Our Services

How We help

ASST works to create a safe and supportive environment for asylum seekers in New Zealand. We provide access to information, services and resources so that those seeking asylum may effectively pursue the determination of their refugee status, and thrive in their new home.

Please Note

We are not lawyers or immigration advisors. We do not represent clients in their claim and we cannot influence the outcome of asylum claims. What we can do is provide support to help in other ways so those making a claim can focus their energy on that.

Housing Support

In the crucial early stages of your asylum journey, securing a safe and welcoming place to stay is paramount. At ASST, we provide hostel accommodations specifically designed for asylum seekers.

Advocacy Services

Facing an unfamiliar legal system alone can be daunting. That’s where ASST’s advocacy services come in. We stand beside you, ensuring that your voice is heard and that you receive the support and entitlements you are due.

Enhanced Information Assistance

Navigating the asylum process in a new country can be over-whelming. ASST is dedicated to demystifying this process by providing you with all the necessary information about your rights, entitlements, and the general lifestyle in New Zealand.

Food Assistance

Each week, ASST distributes approximately 150 food boxes, providing essential nourishment to 500-600 individuals and families. Our food support initiative is central to our commitment to assist asylum seekers in maintaining a healthy diet during challenging times.

Household Donation

A home is not just a place to stay; it’s a space to live and grow. Through your generous donations of furniture and household items, ASST helps furnish the homes of asylum seekers, providing them not just with shelter, but a place they can call their own.

Microfinance

ASST’s microfinance program is designed to empower asylum seekers by providing them with the financial means to cover essential costs. Whether it’s immigration fees, purchasing a vehicle, or other critical needs, our microfinance loans are a stepping stone to independence

Social Engagement

ASST believes in the power of community. Our social engagement programs are designed to help asylum seekers connect with each other and the wider community through regular social outings and cultural activities.
